Meet Sarah Marie Nagel, the incredible woman behind Holistic Habits!  Sarah is a constant source of inspiration to improve our daily rituals holistically, from hair care to tips on how to get better sleep. We always say skincare starts from the inside, and Sarah is a wealth of knowledge on how to do just that.

Interview with Sarah from Holistic Habits 

Hi Sarah!  Can you tell us a little bit about your professional background that brought you to green beauty? 

I studied holistic nutrition at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, however my personal struggle with my skin is what brought me to green beauty. I dealt with horrible cystic acne and was able to heal it through a holistic lifestyle/diet and using natural skincare products. I instantly fell in love with natural beauty products and green beauty is now a huge passion of mine! 

Why did you start your Holistic Habits?

I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I am very passionate when I have an interest in something and I have always found unconventional ways to support myself. I have always had a love for film and photography and worked in the film industry for a few years, so combining my passion of content creation and natural beauty is a dream come true. I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams and make their vision a reality! 

What kind of content to you create?

I make youtube videos on everything from natural haircare and skincare, healthy recipes, style and more! On instagram I share hairstyle photos and photos of things that inspire me. I also have a shop where I sell crystals and jewelry. 

What do you love about natural beauty?

Simply put, I love how you can get amazing, effective results without harming your health or the environment. What more could I ask for? :) 

What is your favorite beauty tip?

This is a hard one! I have a lot of favorites. I would say the most important beauty tip, in my opinion, is to take care of yourself from the inside out. No matter how many lotions and potions you put on your face/body, if you aren’t taking care of yourself internally, it'll show externally. Eat organic, whole foods, drink adequate amounts of water, get enough sleep, and exercise. Keep it simple! 

What does your personal skincare ritual mean to you?

My skincare ritual is one of my favorite parts of the day (or night!). It’s a time I get to pamper myself and relax. I am definitely not someone who would forget to wash their face at night; I enjoy it too much! I believe having a skincare ritual is more than just vanity. It’s a wonderful way to show yourself some much deserved self love. Life can get so hectic and there are so many daily pressures we have to deal with. It’s nice to be able to have a few minutes in life to take care of yourself and have some “me time”.

Any common questions that you get from your viewers?

How did I grow my hair so long - that is definitely the most frequently asked question I get. I have a whole video on how I care for my hair and grow it long. Some of my tips would be to reduce heat styling, oil your hair, use a wooden brush to massage the scalp, and of course.. using natural hair care products free from SLS, parabens, and artificial fragrances/colours. I try to encourage people to embrace their natural hair and take care of what they have.

Why did you choose to feature some of our products on Holistic Habits?

Definitely the Tulsi + Ashwagandha Adaptogen Body Oil. The scent is so unique and instantly calms me. I always look forward to pampering my skin with it after a shower. I’ve also really been into the Rose + Violet Leaf Body Butter lately. I've been rubbing it into my hands/nails before bed. Again, the scent is incredible! As you can tell, I like things that smell good haha.
