HOW TO STAY HYDRATED IN COLD WEATHER

HOW TO STAY HYDRATED IN COLD WEATHER

If you are anything like me, drinking water when it's cold outside is pretty unappealing. Instead I tend to drink a lot of coffee because it's warm and satisfying!  But unfortunately, day after day of drinking little water and tons of coffee leaves me dehydrated. Here are a few tips that work for me to stay hydrated in cold weather months.
BOTANICAL RECIPE: ICED TULSI CHAI TEA

I absolutely love iced coffees, but sometimes it’s nice to have a cold drink that’s not so caffeinated. My sister Dominique tuned me in to Tulsi, which has a nice earthy body to it and holds its own as an iced drink.

It turns out that the Tulsi herb (also known as Holy Basil) is also pretty good for you.Tulsi is a good source of magnesium, which is an important mineral for heart health. Tulsi is also known as a stress fighter since it could help your body to maintain normal level of cortisol and help lower inflammation.

HOLISTIC HEALING: GOLDEN TURMERIC TEA

Since eating an anti-inflammatory diet is key to overall good health and achieving that healthy glow, I figured it couldn't hurt to try and get more turmeric into my diet.  I have become creative at incorporating it into various recipes.

My favorite at the moment is this soothing Golden Turmeric Tea that I adapted from Heidi Swanson's recipe. It's important that the recipe includes both fat and the black pepper because both of these help your body to better absorb the curcuminoids. I have it at night a few times a week and love it so much that I wanted to share!
